I believe your son is involved in the League one play offs.
Good luck against Charlton if I'm right.

Not THE Ricky Martin I hope!

Very good appointment, been at Norwich City for years and done an excellent job up there, met him a few times, nice guy, knows his stuff.

Re: Terry Westley

Man City signed a boy from Hornchurch who was at Southend. From what I can gather Mum, Dad and sister all moved up North with him. I think his little sister was decent at football as well so she is being looked after schooling wise and football wise. I did hear they made sure his Dad found work as well. Probably everything within the rules but making sure they get the best players and the family is happy as well.

Sorry my opinion of Holland.
He is a bit of a mystery to me. He is great when he runs at players but does not often beat them with skill or trickery .His crossing is not great but in all honesty the other big weakness of the under 23s they did not have an effective target man/striker for most of the season. Again like Kemp it would be interesting to see him with better players around him

Re: Terry Westley
Pask has the potential he is tall quick good in the air and reads the game ok. I think Kemp with better players around him would shine he is quick, brave and even though he is small definitely mixes it.He also gives 110% every time I have seen him play. Alesi the other centre back is also quite impressive at this level.
Coventry in my opinion won't make the Premiership standard, even though he is useful,he is not the quickest and can't see an early or killer pass. A lot of the goals conceded since the waste of space Oxford left were basically Mid field losing possession in dangerous areas and keeping errors. The other area where a lot of goals conceded were from set pieces, other than Pask the team lacked height

"Man City are streets ahead of the rest as they promise to put the kids through private education even if they're let go, as well as other incentives."

Wow. How many kids do they have, 'cos you must be talking big bucks there ? This is why all this financial fair play bollocks is just that, there's no way anyone can compete with these people financially.

Re: Terry Westley
I'm not convinced about Terry Westley.
He's been banging on about Nathan Holland for the last 2 years, maybe because he took him from Everton and would get all the credit if he made it.
Holland for all his potential has done nothing to put him in our line up all season.Injuries have not helped. I've asked in an earlier post about Holland or Diangana. I don't think Pellegrini is convinced by either.
As for the the rest of the players to "break through", again none have gone on to achieve much this season. Coventry seems similar to Rice but really should of had some game time if he wasn't to stagnate. The Cup games should of been ideal but we all know what happended there.
Silva has been dodged by injury and Powell has only featured off the bench for Northampton.
Browne had a great start to his Oxford career but after hitting the heights has come back down to earth. Over hyping by his manager at the time has not helped. Is this another attitude problem occuring ?
Johnson has not featured either after the City game, now both Fredricks and Zabaletta are ahead of him.
Manning and now Westley have left so that says a lot I feel about the progress. Pellegrini will bring his own men in,maybe the real reason for Zabaletta's new contract is that he is to be offered a role within the new Academy set up.
It will be interesting what will happen with all the loanees like Makasi,Samuelsen and Neufille will go at the end of the season.

Whats your opinion of the chances of Holland and Coventry?
Is Pask developed enough to be a 4th centre back next season or is it worth sending him on loan next season?
I know Kemp is tiny , is he going to be able to step up? (Yes, I know he is probably the same size as players like David Silva but you need that level of ability to cope being that size. Maybe Fraser at Bournemouth is a better example)

I didn't see news on the official website that Liam Manning has also left the club recently after the u-23s relegation. Steve Potts back in charge.

Re: Terry Westley
A mate of mine's son is a scout for Arsenal and he was telling me that there is not a very talented kid over the age of 5 in the UK that every club doesn't know about.

The main challenge is to get them to sign for YOUR club. Man City are streets ahead of the rest as they promise to put the kids through private education even if they're let go, as well as other incentives.

Re: Terry Westley
Wouldn't know whether he has done a good job or not, but we had a few youth players make their debut this season which is encouraging.

Grady Diangana
Joe Powell
Ben Johnson
Conor Coventry

Re: Terry Westley
I been to many of the under 23 games in the last 2 years and honestly would say that most of the players i have seen will not make the next move up to the Premiership. This not a slur on Wesley
the players in recent times that may make it are either on the fringe or in the squad or out on loan.
There are one or two under 18s coming through and we will see if next season if they impact the under 23s,we have been relegated[kept very quiet] but in all honesty theres not a lot of difference between the 2 leagues.
Westley is a good ,organiser, motivator.but maybe not the best coach, and I would put Manning in the same bracket. They pay good lip service but both have just used us as a stepping stone.
There is a few that might make it but if Rice is the yard stick there are no players close to his standard.
Hopefully I am wrong but to find or even create a top player with our younger players at this moment is not on the horizon .
If you want a couple to watch next season Pask,Kemp and Barrett

ERNIE your pal Sam gave a professional footballer contract to the non professional footballer Craig Allardyce at Preston North End. After failing to have a professional football career after that your pal Sam gave a professional footballer contract to the non professional footballer Craig Allardyce at Blackpool. After failing to have a professional football career after that your pal Sam set him up as football agent selling professional footballers to Bolton.

Nice work if you can get it.

Re: Terry Westley
I whole academy has fallen behind in the last 10 years. It has been neglected and is one of the biggest failings under Sullivan and Gold. We used to be famed for our academy. We got lucky with Rice.

It has little to do with Westley. Our youth system was already suffering with Carr there.

WHUDeano 9:18 Wed May 8
Re: Terry Westley
Westley was about as far from Tony Carr as you are going to get, he was only given the job because of his links to Gold & Sullivan at Birmingham. He has done an ok job and will get more jobs on the back of Declan Rice, but personally I'd much prefer someone either known by Pellegrini or better yet, with direct links to the West Ham 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s way of thinking to be in charge of youth development.

how many have made the first team, that he developed apart from declan, and arguably chelsea did quite a bit of that work? you think diangana is poor, so who else?
